5 WAYS TO GET RID OF YOUR BUMPY SKIN (KERATOSIS PILARIS) FOR GOOD

5 WAYS TO GET RID OF YOUR BUMPY SKIN (KERATOSIS PILARIS) FOR GOOD

Keratosis pilaris is a harmless skin condition that’s fairly common. However, many feel that it’s not aesthetically desirable because it’s essentially tiny bumps and rough dry patches on the skin. On the upside, these bumps don’t itch or cause discomfort.

There’s no cure for keratosis pilaris, but it can be alleviated in such a way that the skin becomes much lighter and smoother.

1. COCONUT OIL SCRUB

Coconut oil is the perfect moisturizer because of the fatty acid content and its powerful anti-inflammatory properties help tone down the redness. Try mixing the following ingredients together for a rejuvenating anti-bacterial scrub

  • 2 tbsp organic coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp organic granulated sugar/brown sugar

2. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR BATH

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has the same anti-inflammatory power coconut oil has. You can either apply this directly on the area of skin or take a nice hot bath with it. Splash in your bathtub and add a few drops of lavender essential oil for good measure.

  • 2 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar

3. OATMEAL RUB

The oatmeal rub can get a little messy, but it will leave your skin feeling silky and smooth afterward. I personally like to put the oatmeal in a grinder/blender first.

  • 2 tbsp organic steel cut oatmeal
  • 3 tbsp organic coconut milk

4. TEA TREE OIL

Tea tree oil helps remove dry and dead skin cells and it works as a natural astringent. Not to mention, its antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce the redness. Use by itself or mixed-in with your favorite lotion. Make sure you use very little amounts at first because it can dry out your skin.

5. VITAMIN A/RETINOL

Vitamin A has retinol in it, which has well-known skin benefits. The benefits that we are interested in are regulating keratin production (prevents the follicles from getting plugged) and the anti-inflammatory properties offered.

Simply squeeze the liquid from the capsule and rub it on the affected areas. Let it sit for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.

  • 1-2 capsules of Vitamin A
